Jenkins Law PLDonnie Scruggs is a native Floridian, born and raised in South Florida, in the small town of Lake Harbor.  He has resided in Florida his entire life, only leaving the state while obtaining his undergraduate degree at Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN on a partial wresting scholarship.  At Cumberland, Donnie graduated with Honors and received a major in Psychology, with two minors in Criminal Justice and Sociology.  He left Cumberland as an Academic All-American and the recipient of several awards given by the university.

After graduation, Donnie moved to St. Petersburg to attend Stetson University College of Law.  While at Stetson, he was awarded the William F. Blews Award, given to students that perform more than twice the required amount of Pro Bono community service hours needed for graduation.

After graduating from Stetson, Donnie accepted a position as an Assistant Public Defender in the 6th Judicial Circuit, in Clearwater.  As an Assistant Public Defender for 3 ½ years, Donnie practiced in both misdemeanor and felony divisions, including representing juveniles and domestic violence cases. Donnie handled over 2,000 criminal cases ranging from 2nd degree misdemeanors to 1st degree felonies.

After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Donnie accepted a position with The Ticket Clinic, a statewide firm that focuses on DUI defense, criminal traffic charges, and traffic citations.  Donnie zealously represented clients charged with DUIs, misdemeanor and felony charges, and over 20,000 civil infractions.  The representation of civil infractions ranged from non-moving infractions to accidents involving fatalities, that could suspend a client’s driver’s license.

Donnie is now an associate at Jenkins Law.  His primary areas of legal concentration are in Criminal Defense, Traffic, Personal Injury, and First Party Homeowner Claims.  Donnie is an advocate of those that have been charged by the State of Florida and face potential periods of incarceration, and also a representative of those that seek to recover from denied and underpaid insurance claims.
